Some seventy – five years ago, there was a heated controversy about whether or not any higher forms of life exist on Mars. Percival Lowell, on the one hand, maintained that the surface of Mars was criss-crossed by a network of lines, or canals, and that the geometrical regularity of the network, together with its variations through the Martian year, indicated it to be an artifact constructed by intelligent beings. At the other extreme were the views of E.E .Barnard, views with which the great majority of astronomers now agree. Barnard said Mars gave him the impression of “a globe, whose entire surface had been tinted with a slight pink color on which the dark details had been painted with a grayish colored paint supplied with a very poor brush, producing a shredded or streaky and wispy effect in the darker regions”. Suggesting, perhaps, that it was unwise to draw over-firm conclusions from such scant visual evidence, he added that “ no one could accurately delineate the remarkable complexity of detail of the features which were visible in moments of the greatest steadiness”.

Sample summary
If you look at the endangered species table for 1993, you will somewhere that the number of mamals listed exceeds all other classes of animals that are in danger of extinction.
When we look at the table, we see that there are 305 different species of mammals that are endangered. We also see that 226 different species of fish, 80 different species of reptiles and various other species of animals must be saved.
These figures are startling and greatly disturbing. Clearly, something must be done immediately to stem this disaster from totally wiping out species of animals that have been on this earth thousands of years and will never be on the earth again. The statistics must be reversed and the carriage stopped.
